this whole blog/wordpress/”share my feelings & thoughts online” kick has finally caught up with me… again. i say again because i had a blogspot a while back but never thought anyone read so felt like i was a waste of time and stopped doing it. i was apparently just way ahead of my time… yeah that’s it i was just ahead of my time. so anyway, the kid is back for round 2 and we will see how long it lasts. but i am vowing to make a conscience effort to do this (blog/post/whatever) with some manner of consistency.
so this is my first post… and it’s a thinker.
i was compelled to read about job this morning. (and i love the book of job… LOVE IT) and in readin job again i was reminded of a couple things.
1. God took notice of Job
He took notice because of the way job lived his life. job was “blameless and upright.” i got to thinking i wanna live my life and do things with my life that make God sit up and go “have you noticed jon.” even if it means i go through some testing… i’m fine with that, because i know my life has captured God’s attention.
2. Job never broke
Those of you that have been around here (calvary) the last couple weeks have heard of the palm tree, elasticity (wow spelled that right on the first run… sweet) bending not breaking… whatever it takes to have that, job had it. in job 1:17-20 he went from being the richest man in the area with 7 sons and 3 daughters to having nothing but himself and his wife (who wanted him to “curse God and die”) but through it all job (blameless and upright) never sinned and never broke. in fact not only did he not break but he came through praising the Lord. sometimes we go little things like getting cut off in traffic, a frustrating co-worker, or even the guy that telling us where to park when we come to church. we sometimes absolutely lose our minds over things that really don’t matter. but not job he went through big time stuff, lost everything and through it all… he never broke.
we can learn a lot from ole job.
Thank you, I’ll look at it so you will have to post. Have not even thought of Job in a very long time so your post got me to thinking. Anyway just getting me to think of the Lord in the middle of the day during tasks must make God sit up and take notice. I was busy thinking about sales tax when your mail came in. I’ll bet He (God) is thinking “Good job, Jon.” Got the
C A T H O L I C to streach a bit. Love to you and the family.
